February 16th-Another appointment with my lovely OS
« on: February 01, 2005, 03:30:54 PM »
My GP has out right refused to help me with my pain, he thinks ibuprophen will do the trick, I contacted my OS via the snail mail and his secretary called today to tell me that he wants to see me on the 16th.  Eeeeek :-X I'm happy that he's agreed to see me again...but i'm just really anxious as i REALLY need some help... :'(

Thanks Lizzie, i'm really hoping i'm going to get some assistance here... I did speak to my PT last night and he said he and the other PT who is assesing me today will write up a report to send along with me to my OS so he'll be aware of how much we've done and tried. :-\  I love my PT... I wish he could fix me. :-[

thanks again though,means so much

Hang in there!  All will be ok.  I had a crying fit at my docs the other day about my pain, now he knows that motrin/ibeprfin do nothing for me.  He wrote me out a prescription and all is well in my world again. :)

Thanks EVeryone for your responses and encouragment.  ::) I'm gettin' kind of nervous about this ... however I think my Fiance' Adam is going to take the afternoon off work to take me down to the doctors.  I just don't think I can go alone, I need him there to back me up. My Dad just sits there like a lump and my OS will talk to him not me, since they are buddies. >:( So, if I bring Adam, he'll be there to support me, and won't let me get walked all over and my OS will talk to me..not Adam.

Thanks

Linds that sounds like a good plan!  You need the back up!  Do you write all you questions down?  Even the stupid ones? And the what if's?  Print them out and give the Dr a copy.  Tell him this is what I need to talk about and the questions you need answered.  You may also write a journal covering a couple of weeks, what you were doing what your pain levels were and how it was impacting your life.  When they have it in black and white they can't say that they don't understand how much pain or disruption of you life the pain in you knee is causing.

I found out that when I gave him the questions when he came in that he answered all my questions.  If I had the list and just asked him the questions I didn't get them all answered!

Sending you a BUG BUNCH of HUGsGrab One when you need a HUG.

Hey ROzzie, thanks for those thoughts.  I'm actually going in , with my OS knowing  pretty much exactly what's been going on as I wrote him a letter explaining everything i've done and am doing to try and make this work.  I spared no details and really laid it out there. I photocopied it before I sent it so I would have my own copy.  Anyway, I am thinking of taking some of my journal entries with me, as I keep a knee journal and I don't put an entry in everday, but after appointments with PT and/or doctors and on days when it just really get's to me. I was also considering starting a journal tommorow then it will be one week of entries to take with him. ;) Thanks for your ideas. :D and the hugs, really need them today. ::)

HUGS back to you
Take good care

Well i'm just posting on here, cause i'm getting nervous about my appointment tommorow.  :-\ I've got everything all lined up... the letter from my PT to be picked up tommorow...I think it'll all be okay, i'm just so nervous.  I am just worried that he's not going to help me.. and I really need help. I've had a horrible few months really that just continue to get worse. My left knee gave out on me twice this morning... it's been kind of hard.  I'm really hoping that my OS is going to help me with the pain control.

Thanks to all of you for your words of encouragment...

Hugs
