Post ACL Reconstruction Cartilage Damage
« on: February 01, 2005, 07:27:21 PM »
Dear All

Am new to the site. Last year i tore my acl, had the reconstruction (patella) last may and have been coming on well. Don't have hyper extension and the knee grates alot when i bend it, muscles are also still v weak.

Nevertheless, i've become quite active, running, cycling etc without much discomfort at all. Two weeks ago i started getting a pain inside my knee whenever i tried to fully extend it and tense my quads - at first i thought that this was just some pain from the fact that i had really been working on hyper extension, particularly when running

the pain is still there, and while i can straighten my leg fully i'm now worried that it might be cartilage damage

is this possible given that i didn't fall/ twist it etc? if so what are the repurcussions for further surgery on my knee? could this upset the acl that is working well?

any help / advice much appreciated

max
