How long for L-Release recovery
«

Hi,
I am having my 2nd lateral release & arthroscopy on Thursday this week as a final 'tester' before I have a major operation.
I had my last when I was young 10 years ago and cannot remember the in's & out's about it.
How long do you think before I can drive again and any tips on recovery will be very gratefully received!
Thanks,
Nick

Everybody's recovery is a bit different. I had an LR plus AIR and LOA on 12/19/04. I was on crutches for 2 weeks and NWB for that whole time. I was also on pain meds pretty regularly. I started driving just at about 2 weeks and 2 days post op.
You should ask your OS what to expect for better info.
Good luck,
Pam

Pam is right, everyone is different when they recover from this surgery as well, surgeons are much different in how they deal with it as well.
I had a my second LR back in August, and i'm still struggling. However, I could return to driving at about 3 weeks post op, and was off crutches at 2 weeks post op. Going up and down stairs reasonably at 3 weeks. Riding my bike at 6 weeks.
Hope this has helped..goodluck

Hi.....I just had an LR done on Jan 6, 2005 and have had a good recovery, so far. I was up without crutches in 3 days, driving at 5 and biking, walking and swimming at 6. I'm doing my PT religiously and feeling great. I still have inflammation but it is not debilitating. Alak and alas, I still have pain going up and down the stairs but my doc says that is usually the last to come back.
Good luck. I hope all goes well.
