spots on bone behind knee--not  Baker's Cyst
« on: January 16, 2005, 02:28:37 AM »
. ???I am having surgery on a meniscal tear on Jan. 28th after  waiting since Oct. 2004. I have been in constant pain with swelling  since August. After having the x-rays and MRI, something was found behind my knee so I was sent for a bone scan which also showed the two suspect spots, so I was sent to a cancer specialist. He looked at my films and said it was only degenerative arthritis. So, now plans for the surgery for the meniscus tear are made. Well, 2 weeks ago, I developed a lump on the instep of my foot on the same leg as my bad knee. Could this possibly be coming from those spots on my bone. I can't find anything to read about degenerative arthritis of the knee and to  be honest I have been a little uneasy about the diagnosis to begin with. I would be very grateful for any help I could receive on this. Thanks

I've got a big "spot" on one of my femurs called a fibrous cortical defect it's about 1cmx7cm. I'm told that this is common and that its a different kind of bony material, and isn't anything to worry about, so there's apparently many kinds of "spots" one could have that are apparently normal to see.
multiple arthroscopies 2/00,3/01,6/01,1/03, 12/07,10/10. chondromalacia, severe medial joint space narrowing following 3 partial menisectomies, chronic pain problems, kneecap problems, OCD lesion, failed mfx.

could be..also arthritis is fairly nefarious and likes to set up shop in branch offices thruout the leg..i get spurs around the instep and ankle..the pfs and vascular probs make the overall leg and bones unhealthy...hang in there.....try to rest it..kill the pain best way u can..and maybe divert by yakking to a bud..a good flick/book/or tunes and ease up...
