Popliteal Ligament?
« on: December 03, 2004, 07:36:11 PM »
Hi, I'm new here.  Probably like everyone else driven here out of a need for information.

I was diagnosed yesterday with a complex tear in the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus.  Which I know is fairly simple surgery now to repair. (My original meniscus surgery, on the other knee was in 1978).

What scared me was the part that PA didn't tell me.  The report reads that the meniscus tear is "associate with edema or tear of attachment of proximal popliteal ligament."  This worries me.  I've had an ACL repair on my left knee in 1987.  It was pretty tough surgery and recovery.  To me it looks like I could be headed for a rough one again.

Can someone either comfirm or dispell my fears?

I know my surgeon is the best person to answer this question.  The surgeon I want to do the surgery is between hospitals and I'm not certain when I'll get to see him.  I don't want to have surgery until mid Jan anyway due to holiday and travel plans.

Can someone advise?
