I really need help here...
« on: November 06, 2004, 08:36:02 AM »
Unfortunately, I can't be specific about my problem, because I haven't been to a doctor that knows a thing about the knee joints.  I've seen six or seven since I first injured my knee.  One a year since I was 18, and each visit was directly after a blindingly painful pop.  Now I'm tattooed head to toe and work as a laborer; suffice it to say, I know pain well...but this knee is something else, because it's debilitating pain that makes me want to bawl like I was five years old.  I can't even describe it, because I can't think when it pops.  It brings me to my good knee every single time, and I am usually out of commission for the better part of the day.  It swells occasionally, but not substantially.

The docs have never told me anything beyond that it's bruised, which I know isn't a proper diagnosis.  Any question to further understand this problem will be promptly answered, and any help or foresight would be appreciated.  Thanks...
24 yr old male and limping since 18.
Doctors seen are useless.
Longing for days of yore, where I could run, jump, roll and dive with no problem.

That would be correct, yes.  Not one of the six docs I've seen thought it necessary.  Hence my appearance here.  I figured if anyone would know, I'd find them here.

I'm from the U.S. and I was just looking to see if anyone was suffering from the same problem, either prior to or after their surgeries.  I'm not looking for a diagnosis, just a shot in the dark as to what might be causing the problem.

Sounds like it might be meniscal damage. You really need to be forceful and say "give me a referral" if that is what is holding you up. You are just causing more damage by waiting that long.

To be honest, I can't recall a day I woke up without it hurting...or a night I went to sleep without it hurting.  It always hurts, but I've gotten used to the daily thing.  It's also extremely unstable.  I walk on eggshells anymore.

Yea u really do need to be forceful and say I need a referral. You know your body best and when it hurts that bad its obviously telling you  that something isnt right.

Good luck

Yeah, that seems to be the concensus.  The main problem is insurance...and not having any.  Looks like that'll be my next goal.
