swelling and fluid within the actual joint is a primary cause of lack of ROM....
Big bucket handle tear to lateral meniscus from sporting injury. Arthroscopy and meniscal repair carried out June 2004. sloooowwww recovery!!

2018 - torn medial meniscus in RH knee, partial extrusion. ongoing issues,

Not really physiologocally, but a big fat knee brace, thats locked and an argry OS.....who threatens to undo everything hes done if I play with the hinges (hence not being given an alun key)....that would stop anyone!

Seriously though I would say inflammation, swelling, pain etc and also theres a psychological element.
