severe uneven patella wear
« on: October 28, 2004, 07:07:29 PM »
I have been diagnosed with severe uneven patella wear on the outside (IT band side) of my knee. I had the knee surgeon look at it with a 'scope last week and I met with him today to go through the results.

He managed to tidy it up a bit but doesn't think that anything that he has done will solve the problem. He was fairly negative about my having any improvements, but I obviously don't want to give up.

I am 40 years old and have trained heavily with weights for around 15 years, along with some light running and cycling. I know many people who have trained and worked much harder than that and have never had any problems, so i am loath to accept that this is purely an overusage problem.

Neither my GP or the consultant surgeon has spoken to me about my gait or suggested having it checked or tested the relative strength of my various leg muscles.

Has anyone had a similar problem or have any suggestions as to what i should do now?
