MRI today!
« on: October 13, 2004, 08:23:24 PM »
Hi; I'm going for an MRI today on my right knee whichich has been giving me real problems if I kneel down or squat (it's an adventure to get up and I can't put any weight on it for several hours). I had an MRI on my left knee a couple of years ago and it showed a small meniscal tear; but it doesn't bother me like my right knee does. This is all the result of taking a fall skiing about 16 years ago and leaving it pretty much untreated (save for some PT). My OS is away for a couple of weeks but hopefully I can get some preliminary information from the technician.

Rats! Got the MRI, but the tech couldn't tell me how it read; appearently they'll get in trouble with the doctor if they do. I'll have to wait for the consultation on the 29th.

Impression:
1) No meniscal injury
2) Bony trabecular injury in the lateral femoral condyle (huh?)
3) Mild patellar tendinosis
4) Small joint effusion ( I know that means swelling somewhere)

Would someone be kind enough to translate #2 & 3?

Well even though the MRI was negative on the menisci, were going ahead with the arthroscopy. MY OS said he did a scope today on a patient that was symptomatic and the MRI was negative. It turned out he had to perform a meniscal repair during the procedure.
:P
