Rehab on patella fracture
« on: October 12, 2004, 02:58:14 AM »
I fractured my left patella on september 7th and went thru the surgery process. I am supposed to be out of this cast in 1-2 weeks. I am a basketball player and I wanted to know what is the best way to rehab my knee and how long does it usually take to fully recover? Thank you...

Welcome to the board allamerican23!

Your first challenge will be to reawaken your quads. Then you'll be on to regaining ROM (range of motion), balance, and gait, along with strength.

It takes a while, but everybody's mileage varies. The best way to rehab is to go to physical therapy and then follow the therapist's advice religiously. Don't overdo it and don't underdo it.
