"Clicking" knee
« on: October 10, 2004, 10:59:43 PM »
Hi!

I have bilateral PFS, left knee much worse than right.
But for the last months, my right knee has been feeling a little strange...
I often hear a clicking sound and feel something "pop" on the medial/back side of my knee when I bend it. I don't have any real pain (except for the "usual" PFS pain) but sometimes a strange, "stiff" feeling in the knee.
Due to PFS, my knees use to pop loudly, but only when I extend the legs, not when I bend them. The "PFS pops" are definitely located to the kneecap, I can feel it move.
I have had PFS for about 3 years, but these new problems started after a mountainbike practise about three months ago. I had ache in my "good" (right) knee, but no pain in the left, and that is unusual. As the ache was almost gone the next morning, I assumed the popping and stiff feeling would go away too, but it hasn't.  :-/

Does anyone recognize these symptoms?
Might it be a part of PFS, though it feels like it's "inside" the knee, not located to patella? Or can I have injured something else?  ???

As I don't have pain, I'm not really concerned. But I would appreciate any ideas about what might be wrong with my knee!

Thanks,

Helena

Hey !!

For me it sounds like it's part of the PFS but maybe
the mountainbike worsened it a bite. And when I read down your lines I found that your doc is considering maybe doing LR. Therefor I don't think you need to worry. But if you feel worried about it then why not contact your doc and ask.

Hi (eller hej Nettan!  ::))

It feels a little stupid to contact a doctor about something that doesn't really hurts... :-/
What I have been a little concerned about is if it might be a small meniscus tear, thats why I wrote here. But I guess that would be more painful...
If it's only a part of th PFS, I won't worry more about it.

About the LR, we have only discussed it on my left knee, as most activities make that knee hurt and I'm dependent on using a brace... The right knee is really good compared to that, even with this new problem...
I have also cancelled the LR twice, as I'm afraid it won't help, or even may make things worse...

Finally, I can't tell how much I admire what you and many others on this board are getting through!
Compared to yours, my problems are nothing!

Hugs,

Helena

Hej !!
