Title: Post ACL reconstruction and meniscus surgery
Post by: basic_alii on April 17, 2021, 03:08:18 PM
Hello everyone, i had my ACL reconstruction and meniscus surgery on 9 December, 2020 because I injured my self badly while playing soccer. My surgeon said that I need a physiotherapist right after my stitches were removed and so i did started physiotherapy 3 weeks after the surgery, but since i live in a small town, the hospitals here aren't that good and neither is the physiotherapist (i guess). I agree that its fault on my part that while being aware that my physiotherapist isn't that great, i didn't search on internet how to follow excercises and precautions myself at home. Anyways i did what ever he asked me to. I did all the excercises and i was able to walk in a few days but i used to limp but now i can walk easily and my surgeon told me that i should start jogging as i can walk easily now but as i start to run, i couldn't straighten my knee as it used to be. Its not equal to my uneffected leg. I thought this was normal and it will get better over time but its my 5th month and now i searched on internet that its the job of physiotherapist to work on your knee flextion and extension and if you dont take care of it it will not get better by time and by it self, you might even get arthritis in the future and this scared the s**t out of me. I can walk smoothly and as much as i want without tiring but i was able to do that even before surgery. I spent money on this surgery so i can run like i used to. Im only 21 and I love sports. So my question is, am i too late to do anything about my knee extention? And my knee flexion is at 145 degree angle by doing hamstrings exercises but i want to bend it completely so i can sit on ground while praying by bending both my knees. I hope someone might help me or give me a good advice here.
