Title: Fasting before PRP?
Post by: JohnnyG123 on September 08, 2016, 05:11:44 PM
I've seen there's some research which indicates that fasting for a prolonged period of time triggers stem cell regeneration. Some examples:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2016/03/12/fasting-for-three-days-can-regenerate-entire-immune-system-study/

I don't fast myself but was wondering whether there would be any benefit in fasting prior to having PRP injections performed given the effects fasting has on stem cells?

No idea, I like food way too much!

Isn't the data for PRP actually doing much for cartilage beyond reducing inflammation pretty limited anyhow?  The links speak to stem cells not PRP (growth factors, so different as I understand it)

Definitely fast before a prp/stem cell injection! At least 12 hours. I try to do 16-18 but it's hard sometimes haha.

Stem cells are really what you want for cartilage...not prp.

By stem cells are you referring to stuff like BMAC or those offered by regenexx etc?

It's quite frustrating, as I can't seem to find any medical professionals in my area offering anything besides PRP.

And howabout fasting on Its own, say for 72 hours, as That is the optimal time for stems cells to luck start, i dont see a connection fasting induced stem cell régénération versus fasting and prp, If stem cell régénération happens by fasting alone?
