Title: Weird VMO snapping sensation
Post by: mikeLitoris1 on August 02, 2014, 07:40:47 PM
I am a 22 year old male weight lifter.

I've been having this weird snapping sensation where the VMO connects to the patella since I got into bed with my right knee first.  I looked at it as not a big deal because I've done that all my life. It's been happening for a little over two weeks and I can feel a snapping feeling when I squat or bend it past 90 degrees.  It feels like a tendon is flipping over another tendon or maybe even bone. I tried squatting on it but I felt a weird pain and stopped. Since trying to work through it I've had light burning pains and stinging pains. It doesn't hurt to go up and down stairs but I do get a stinging pain from that area when I walk.  There's no locking up or patella instability.  I can't find any info on this.

Consult a doctor or physiotherapist asap.  In the meantime, rest, ice, compression, elevation (RICE)
