Title: Knee clicking when going up stairs
Post by: weirdknees on February 06, 2014, 10:58:54 PM
I'm a 26 year old active female and I've noticed my knee clunks every time I push up from it whilst going up the stairs. I do sometimes get a twinge in my knee and it gives on the very odd occasion. It doesn't hurt when it clicks, but I can feel this big clunk right in the middle. Was wondering what it is, or if it's anything to worry about?

Thanks guys

Weirdknees,

I had the same problem and come to find out I had no cartilage left under my kneecap.  Now I have an implant under my kneecap and so far it has worked but now it has started shifting out of place.

Clicking is usually nothing to worry about as long as there is no pain with it.  Strengthening the vmo (quad) may help out, as I may told but my doctor.

Thanks for the replies guys, I do have a tilted kneecap so it makes sense that it's probably that. It feels like it's coming from the middle back of my knee, and like it locks back a bit when I straighten it.

Thanks to whoever reported that previous post, it was pretty strange.
