Title: ACL Revision tomorrow
Post by: rnm37 on January 28, 2014, 06:21:03 PM
Hi folks,

So tomorrow afternoon I will be getting my 2nd ACL reconstruction on my right knee! Its the same surgeon who did my first, this time he is using the hamstring on my good leg for the graft, and also hopefully be able to trim/fix a tear on my medial meniscus. Hoping everything goes well and I can start rehab asap.

Just posting to say thank you to all the posters on this site who are a great source of info and support with regard to knee issues. It really is a great help, particularly for people like me who had a setback after initial recovery and weren't 100% sure which path to take.

Cheers,

Ross

Thanks guys!

Thats me finally home after the op, got kept in overnight which I wasn't too happy about but its probably been a good thing in terms of post operative care.
Operation itself went very well and the surgeon saw me afterwards to discuss it. Basically my new graft was perfect and my knee is extremely stable but unfortunately  the tear in my medial meniscus was very big, i've had about 50% of it removed :(
HOWEVER this is the weird part. Apparently the tear in my lateral meniscus that I had trimmed in my first op in 2012 has somehow regenerated itself! The surgeon said he had never seen anything like this happen before in his professional life. Has anyone on here ever seen or heard of this happening?
