Title: URGENT! Don't know if i should go to the ER right now
Post by: ljljlj393 on January 08, 2013, 12:00:07 AM
so i had a tibial osteotomy about 3.5 weeks ago. today my leg hurt more than usual and now right over the shin bone is completely swollen, and more raised than before.  i'm worried it could be a bone infection because i looked it up and it seems possible. what should i do? wait it out or go to the er?

Is it red and swollen?   Any fever?

I would call the surgeon.

I understand your worry after that kind of op. I would ring your surgeon's office and request an urgent response. If you don't get it, then go to ER - they are often wary when you have not long had surgery, so might contact your surgeon themselves.

Good luck.
