Title: Metalwork problems
Post by: ciara0402 on July 17, 2012, 07:50:22 PM
Hi - I had an ACL reconstruction in October 2006, 3 weeks later dreadful nerve pain, opened it up again and removed the staples that were keeping the screw on to the bone.  No problems really until January 2011 when the screw worked its way out and was literally sticking out at a point.  Back into hospital, had the screw removed.  NOW - terrible pain which travels all the way up the front of my thigh to my hip but also there is a huge dent where the screw was removed - I can put three fingers into the indentation.  Any ideas????  Is there usually more than one screw?  Could it be infected after all this time???  Can't bear the pain - had it x-rayed today and the radiologist helpfully said "yes, there's definitely something there'!!!

Has anyone had similar problems so long after the reconstruction and removal of the offending metalwork?
