Title: HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: coopaloop on July 01, 2012, 01:39:17 AM
So, I'm 2 and 1/2 weeks out of a pcl reconstruction and I have noticed that when I get up on my crutches the foot on my operated leg turns bright red and swells. Now at first I figured this to be because my knee had been propped up for some time that therefore the blood then rushed down to my foot causing my problem. After some time, however, my foot my foot was still discolored and a little swollen. As far as pain goes I have none in that area or in my calf but my knee still hurts from time to time. So I'm going to call the doc's office on Monday and ask him for his opinion. I have dissected an artery in my right knee so I know the feeling when my leg is without blood and this problem isn't a clot ( at least not yet). So has anyone else experienced this problem if so any feedback would be appreciated!?

Are you wearing any type of compression or brace?

Yes I have both an ace rap and a brace on but my foot still turns red when I'm upright without these devices. The problem could be since this is a pcl reconstruction my doc doesn't want me to bear over 25% of my body weight on my knee until 6 weeks post op and I can't bend my knee on my own for 6weeks post op. So, maybe my knee turns red because of the fact that I haven't put much weight on it or because I haven't been able to bend it quite yet. I'm not too worried but in my previous 5 surgeries I haven't had this problem. I'm probably just over-reacting but I'm not quite sure what's going on.
