Title: Plica removal and cleanup
Post by: dennisd on April 18, 2012, 02:15:25 AM
Hi all,

Returning to these boards for the first time in a long time with news of surgery on my left knee. It's supposed to be plica removal and clean up. Can some one explain what a plica is and if there could be complications from this type of surgery.

Thanks

You can find information on the plica somewhere in the knee notes on this forum.

In short, plica is a band of tissue that gets inflamed after repeated pinching between the kneecap and other bones. It can be removed but if it's not done properly, it could grow back as scar tissue, resulting in the same pain that was present before.
