Title: Can bucket-handle tears repair themselves?
Post by: efa on March 12, 2011, 06:03:39 PM
Hi guys,

I'm an 18 year old girl and received a complex bucket-handle tear whilst playing rugby. The tear itself happened over a month ago. At first it was very painful when bent and had very bad locking, but since I have been doing daily exercises and taking recover excel and now I don't have any pain. I went to see my surgeon and there is a slight clicking but it's not painful. He want's to go ahead with the arthroscopy so he can see what's going on.

What I was wondering is although they say it's very unlikely that these tears heal by themselves, is it possible that in some cases they do heal themselves?

I play with a club, college and provincial team so I have very important matches coming up that I would love to play.

Thanks for your help,
                             Aoife.
