Title: Calf pain after knee surgery - a solution!
Post by: Moraine on October 26, 2010, 06:02:20 PM
It's been just over a week since my ACL reconstruction and repair of meniscus tear.  I was experiencing severe pain in my calf, which grew increasingly worse over the past week, to the point where it was limiting my ability to do my PT exercises and to walk with crutches.  I noticed many references to the same problem on this site and elsewhere.  I found a simple explanation and approach that has worked for me, literally overnight.  I had been keeping my leg elevated as much as possible to reduce swelling, including at night.  It turns out that this puts pressure on your calf.  As soon as I stopped doing that all the time, and began sleeping flat, not elevated, my calf pain has disappeared!

I hope this helps someone else with the same problem.
