Title: Open Knee Surgery?
Post by: Amanda on October 06, 2003, 05:44:39 AM
Hi there
Could somone tell me a little about open knee surgery?  I have had an arthroscopy to remove a meniscal tear - so I know all about that procedure.  But my OS wants me to have open surgery to remove a large meniscal cyst. There is not much info out there on open surgey I can find, mostly arthroscopy.  If anyone has any info and experiences please post them?

Hi Amanda-

I have had 2 open procedures and am going to be having another one on the 22nd.

What is it exactly that you want to know?

Let me know and I will answer your questions the best that I can.

Feel free to IM me or e-mail me.

I've had two open procedures also. It's more painful and the recovery is longer but otherwise there's not a lot to tell. You get a lot of staples and a big ugly scar out of the deal.
