Title: 10 days post op and feeling weird.....
Post by: bumknee83 on October 25, 2009, 12:42:57 PM
Hey folks Im 10 days post-op from a medial closing wedge HTO and a MPFL recon.  Still feelng really weird.  Im real weak, have alot of pain in my calf, ankle and foot, off and on low grade fevers and off and on nausea, cold sweats too.  I dont know what this could be.  It doesnt seem severe enough to go to the doc but its really worrying me.  Especially at how weak I still am.  When I say weak, I dont mean my knee, I mean my body/muscles.

A surgery that big can kick your butt for you.  I have a feeling that this may be what you are experiencing.  Call your doc though to make sure that the fevers do not indicate an infection.

check with your OS, but also drink a lot of water - twice what you would think you need.  Cold sweats and some meds can dehydrate you quickly.
You really need to hydrate yourself during this period. Nausea and weakness are two classic symptoms.

Please get in to your OS ASAP - it's much better to be seemingly over-concerned and to get potential complications ruled out or stopped in their tracks.

I was "ADR" (Ain't Doing Right) a few days post surgically and the surgeon totally refused to do any diagnostics even at my insistance...He insisted it was "normal for just having major surgery". Well, see my sig for the details.  :-\

Good luck, keep us posted on your progress.

I would suggest a few blood tests, to rule out systemic infection, that would make you feel as you do now. Post op you can be tired, weak, etc, but usually the nausea and sweats, chills, and all over aches are not part of a normal recovery, unless you lost tons of blood, and are taking too many meds with not enough food, to result in nausea, etc. Just my suggestion, Teresa RN
