Title: Whats Your Status
Post by: Jennie on September 15, 2003, 06:46:23 PM
I am not sure if this thread has been done yet or not, but I thought it would be fun to get everyones status.

Are you married, single, divorced, widowed, or in a serious relationship???

I am single right myself......and looking :o

Happily re-married for 3-1/2 yrs. now. Have a 16 yr. old & 14 yr. old from first marriage.

No children with this one unless you count the 3 additional dogs (already had 1 when we met) and 3 additional horses  ;)

The family has been very good about my situation and now even more so since my husband just had knee surgery this past Monday, Ha ha!!! He found out he had a large 1 x 1-1/2 inch bone chip floating around!

Crazy horse people. They always told me it would catch up in my 40's just didn't think it would happen at EXACTLY 40. Oh well, keep on truckin'  ;D

Serous Relationship. Actually legally we are a Defacto couple.
Defacto is like a common law marriage and means that legally in a weird way are LIKE husband and wife.
Planning on getting married next year (was supposed to be 2002 and then 2003 but family deaths and ilness and such have put plans on hold or pushed them back).
I will get to maryy him one day.
By the way my Significant Other's (SO) name is Owen.
No kids (and wont have becuase of my EDS and other hereditary medical issues) but we do have ONE fur baby, our 10 month old puppy Boo, she is a Norwegian Elkhound.

I'm single w/ a 10 yr old son.
Not planning on getting involved anytime soon. Have yet to find someone decent, who likes me for me, and isn't a wierdo. (The one guy who asked me out in the last 10 yrs set off all my "alarms"- so I didn't go there)

Just celebrated wedding anniversary #25 in August., but I met my husband 6 years before we got married, right when we syarted college. Oldest son just had his 23rd birthday this past Sunday (9/14). Middle son is 19.5, a sophomore in college in PA, and third son is 17, a senior in HS, getting ready to apply to college. Older 2 are serious runners who, so far, haven't inherited their mother's bad knees.

I'm thinking my status is married, permanently--lol...

And my hubby and I are the proud parents of a goofy 21 year old, a mature and capable 19 year old, a social 15 year old daughter, a hormonal 14 year old son, an of-task 12 year old son, a charming and pleasing 11 year old sone, a permanently happy and cheerful 8 year old daughter and my 5 year old baby who can get anything he wants from anybody :D

Quite a group...Add in my son's dog Missy (9), my puppy (big--9 mos) Lady the basket hound (haha) our guinea pig collection--I've given away all of the babies (hooray)  Rocket J Rat, Bullwinkle Gerbil, the fish--and we now have had two very tiny kittens dumped off here.  I have to get tthem to the vet cause my kids want to keep them--a blond male they named Nemo and a calico they named Tutter (??Don't ask me)

I do live in a zoo--so I think my real status is zookeeper!  Sylvia

Boy, Sylvia! How do you keep up with such a gang?????

I thought having all of kids home this summer was a bit chaotic and there were only 3 of them! Plus the 2 cats, Jack and Shadow.

At least you have a lot of "slaves" to help you when you physically can't do things!LOL!

Met my fiancee 5yrs ago on the internet, moved across the country to be with her and her two daughters (4 and 9), nursed her through her 2nd diskectomy(sp?) (she has degenerative disk disease), and through a severe groin bruise from a popped collegen plug during a heart catheterization.

She's been a huge help through my recovery.  Nursed me when I needed it whether I wanted her to or not.

She's the one that screamed at my OS when he refused to prescribe antibiotics for my infected pinsites until he could see them himself (he wouldn't take the home nurse's word for it), he wanted me to travel 2hrs in an ambulance with the external fixator in to be seen in the ER before he'd prescribe them.

Couldn't imagine trying to do the first 3-4mo post-op without her.

Married over 29 years, soon to end, and two daughters, 27, and 11, three sons 23, 14, and 13. 2 dogs, 3 adopted cats (me by them) and 150 or so fish, and every stray to come this way by mealtime, including the teenage boys that never seem to have homes to go to, or parents to runthem around or at least take a turn from practice, games, the pool, movies, etc. NEED more time, and  my  best friend to live close. Teresa  daughters are the oldest, and the youngest, and couldn't be more different. DO have adorable oneyear old grandson, that thinks his world rises and sets in me. wonderful feeling. Always shakes his head no when his mom asks him if he wants to leave my house. haha

Back to my Bridget Jones status, he may have had a climbing accident, but theres no need to be an idot to me on arrival back in London, when he knows I've had a rough time post-op.....I'm far too nice for that, and have far more important things going on, than him having girlie tantrums (and I love my knee more than him, even with scars)!

Went a bit crazy for a couple of days, but all in all a very happy single.....

Hey Melissa,

I remember crying that at my OS, many weeks ago in a very girly tantrum about how I was single with a leg brace that wasn't even pink and how it was freshers week and to make matters worse I had to wear this horrific XXL T-shirt with my name and union position on it. However the leg brace became a talking point as well as the reason why I was wearing it (The best story involved a shark!) - It also has been known to be teamed with a toga, and a pair of board shorts and a bikini for a beach party -
But Alas Mr Darcy is still out there, (though recently have met a Mr Collins!)

Love

To all you ladies who feel this way, don't be discouraged! My youngest, Iona, who I have dubbed my little narcotic child, was conceived 5 days following my LR in 2001. Straight legged, in the immobilizer, my husband apparently could not resist me. Nor could I resist him in my happy drug induced state. But I can't complain, Iona rocks! hehe

Been with Chris 4 and a half years, married 3 and and half of those years. I have a just turned 6 year old daughter from a previous relationship (who knows shes special cause she has TWO daddies that love her ;)) and of course the ever evil 2 and a half year old Iona.

I would be single at the moment. My last b/f was too busy for me (lesson learned: never date an Asian that's taking all AP classes). It didn't help that when we were at this mall for a band clinic, he went and saw a movie with two other girls. I called him during the previews to find out where he was-- and then he told me he didn't buy me a ticket for the movie. I had been shopping in the Victoria's Secret right across from the food court and about 12 band guys knew where I was but he made no effort to find me when they told him. Then later that night he got high off of second-hand pot  ::). Stupidest five months of my life.

But if I end up dating another band guy-- I will only settle for a brass player  ;).

I am single....and i would LOVE to date a guy in the band....actually there this really cute tuba player.....see....i have this thing for red hair green eyes and facial hair....and he meets ALL requirements lol . But hes a freshman and im a junior and i dont think he knows i exist. Ive never actually been in a relationship...im taller and more musclular (from nothing but sports since the age of 4) than most of the guys so i guess they just dont like that or it would feel to awkward for them  :( . And im kinda shy so i guess i just wouldnt know how to get a guy or even find out if they like me  :P .

It's also hard for me to find guys that are taller than me since I'm 5'9".

Ok, so in my last post in this thread, I said I'd only settle for a brass player.
I lied.
He's a percussionist. (different band though).

Single...and glad.  My ex-boyfriend was a moron.  He wanted to get married and I backed out of the relationship...so glad I did.

The right one is out there and until I find him...I will enjoy being single.

Boyfriends are overrated Chels.  All of mine have been morons and all the relationships have ended badly.

Enjoy being single and when the right guy comes along then you will know what to say.

^ That's what I thought too until I met my bf. I had the "I don't have time for you, but I want a gf so people don't think I'm gay" bf and then my prom-date turned stalker-type. He wouldn't leave me alone. But I then got set up on a blind date............. very much the romantic, chivalrous gentleman.

I have a wonderful fiance named Martin. He has also had knee problems (with his patella).  We actually met in the summer, after my injury, so he's only known me as an injured, limping, girl, lol.  He has been exremely supportive throughout everything. He took the day off to be with me during my surgery, and my parents let him move back home with me to help take care of me post-op. I couldn't have done all of this without him. Whenever I have a bad day (I had more of them back before my surgery, when nobody seemed to know what was wrong with my knee....the MRI didnt' show anything), he's there to comfort me.

So I am very blessed :)

Silverwing I'm right there with you.  Will be married 31 years in June.  Gad, we were 19 when married, promised to finish college and graduate - and did.  Yea for us.  Made us the adults we are, I assume!  Not many 30+'s around, it seems.  I'm very proud of us.  Eagle

I answered this once before a while back, but left a few things off Dave and I have been married almost 35 years, we have 3 kiddos, Scott 33, Cory 31 and Mandi 29. We have 9 grandbabies, 8 dogs, and 5 cats. As of now that is. We get cats tossed out here all the time, we take them in have them spayed or nuetered and try to find them homes.

Divorced 20 years ago, single now and not looking.....I can deal with the health issues and my 16 yo old son, I couldn't deal with a relationship right now.  I don't think I'd be much of a catch in my current condition:)

I have been VERY happily married for 17 years.  We have three children.  Two boys and a girl, ages 13, 9 and 7.  I am having a tibial tubercle transfer & proximal realignment on April 22.  It should be very interesting with an active household!
