Title: Numb area to shin
Post by: kneedy1 on May 11, 2009, 04:24:56 PM
Hi to all

this is my first post on this site so bear with me. I had bilateral ACL reconstruction using my hamstrings 11 days ago. Since then I have had a large numbed area to my left shin which didnt cause any problem initially apart from the weirdness of it. However over the last couple of days I have been experiencing a really strange prickly stinging feeling underneath this numbed area which is at times as painful as my knees have been. Does anyone know is this normal?
Tina.

Does it feel like pins and needles?  Just a thought that the nerves may be healing and that may be the pain sensation.   Healing nerves can give you some real zings while they get better.

Like twobadknees said - sounds like nerves regenerating.  Perfectly normal.  Mine would come and go over the course about 1 month post op
