Title: Long Bus Journey Ahead
Post by: smurf1979 on April 19, 2008, 10:57:34 PM
In 4 weeks I am due to go via bus from not very sunny North Wales down to Spain (Barcelona area) for 9 days. We are taking 65 school pupils and the journey is due to take around 27 hours each way.

My question is what do people suggest I can do to help relieve any knee pain etc on the way? It won't be too easy to get my leg elevated on the bus and other than short walks around the bus the time will be spent pretty much sat down chatting and watching some films.

Any suggestions are welcome and will be very much appreciated

Hi Jo,

Hope you are well?

Last year I flew to Florida and next month I'm flying to Cancun via Philidelphia which will be a 14hr journey what I have done in the past is try and keep your ankles moving and also what I found was good was pushing my heel into the ground and that was moving my quads as well.  try to move your leg backwards and forwards periodiaclly under the seat as well.  At least you should be able to have some stops on the way down and take every opportunity to stretch your legs.  Get an Aisle seat aswell so you could possible stick your let out.

Easier said than done to move about but good luck on your journey.

a cool box with ice or an ice pack to use and an aisle seat.  That's what i do when i fly to Zambia from Heathrow and it's a ten hourflight.  Just walking up and down will help it's when you are totally immobile that you stiffen.  And get off the bus for a walk around at every opportunity.

Have a fun trip!!
