Title: How to get a coveted appointment
Post by: lost_cause on June 22, 2007, 02:36:59 AM
I'm new here and am hoping someone can give me some good advice. I'm having a lot of post-op problems 3 months out and it's time for me to see a specialist.  Finding one isn't the hard part, it's getting the appointment that is proving to be difficult.

So I'm wondering what is the best way to get an appointment within a reasonable time frame. It seems like the wait time is 2-4 months to see *anyone*

The best thing I can think of is to go to the doctor's offfice, wait around, and try to snag a cancelled appointment. But I could just end up wasting a whole lot of time.

Any other suggestions, thoughts, ideas?

Thanks.

hi
is there any chance of getting your surgeon (or other doc) to give you a referral? My doctor has a "referral coordinator" that takes care of those appts for the patients.
Good luck!

Well
If you can write a good letter and swell the "OS" head a little, talking aobut how great he is and all the successful surgeries he has done etc.  Then paly the "poor pittiful me" and no where to turn.. If you can't see me could you please refer me to someone that you feel could help?  Then send the letter registered mail, return receipt requested and just wait.  If you don't get anything back, find someone else.  If the OS read your letter and is going to help you he will take the letter to the secretary and tell HER to call YOU.

It will take a week or so but you will get in and he WILL remember your letter.
