Title: Pain?
Post by: lilred on February 13, 2007, 03:06:08 AM
About 3 months ago I had knee surgery on what my OS thought would be another meniscal tear. It turned out to be a bunch of scar tissue. He said recovery should take about a month, and that I should be able to return to normal. About 3 weeks after the surgery, I started to get a slightly annoying stabbing pain in one area of my knee. My OS said with increased motion, ect. it should start to go away. Each week since, my motion has improved but my pain has gotten exponentially worse. It isn't constant, and when it stabs, I have no motion whatsoever. It's a burning pain sometimes, but other times its just a stab. It wakes me up at night, bothers me during lecture, when I'm walking, any time! It doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason. I've tried laying off the exercize, and doing stretches to help get the motion back (and I'm almost there!), but I still can't move it when it hurts. The pain got so bad last week, that I had to go to the emergency room. I have everyone confused, but my OS keeps insisting that the pain should go away, and that its normal. He wants me to wait two months, but with the pain this bad, I don't think I can last another week without help! Any clues as to what would be causing this? I'm at the end of my rope..

thank yoU!!!

Something that can show after after a injury is RSD. That is a neurological condition that needs to be treated ASAP.
Have you swelling, changing of skin color ?
Here you can read more abouth this condition but don't freak out if you go under treatment fast you can get rid of this.

Feel free to ask if you have questions and I will try answer them.

wow...a lot of that sounds eerily familiar. could it still be RSD if i'm not in constant pain? i've always been a really good sweller, and i've noticed red bloches that sometimes come up..but i thought that was normal?

thank you so much...

..i'll talk to my OS right away.
