tegs,

I had a scope about 2 months ago and from what I remember, it took about an hour. I had nerve block and sedation...not a spinal...so only the affected leg was numb, not both. However, I did not feel a thing.

Good luck!! I hope everything goes well!

I don't think you'll feel a thing. Having the IV put in might be the only thing you feel and that's a very minor discomfort that is over in a flash. You'll probably get to the OR, lie down and get situated on the OR bed, and the next thing you know, they're waking you up in the recovery room. The total time in the OR will probably be 45 minutes to an hour, maybe even less. You'll spend a lot more time in the pre-op holding area and the recovery room.

I know you're really nervous, but try to reassure yourself that this is really minor surgery and you'll do very well. The more you can do to help yourself by controlling your emotions and thinking positively, the better your body will do during surgery.

The mind really is a powerful thing! If you can find a way to relax your mind and thoughts and start thinking positively about your surgery, your body will handle the surgery much better and you'll heal a lot faster.

Have you ever learned any meditation techniques? If not, this would be an excellent time to learn a few. You could look on the internet,  or go to a local bookstore and see if there are any books or CDs which look good to you. Many doctors will let you bring a CD player or iPod with headphones into the OR and you can listen to music or a meditation recording while you are sleeping. Even if you can't bring it in the OR, you can listen to it while you're in the pre-op holding area and in the recovery room.

Something tells me that might be a really good thing for you to look into acquiring tomorrow.  :)

You'll do great!
