I saw a dead bee the other day. (http://www.inapicoltura.org/online/immagini/primopiano%2005-3/dead_bee.gif) Does that count? Could have spent the winter buried under the snow, but who knows?

At the Golf Club I work at I have seen snowdrops and crocuses in flower, I have also seen a female and male duck walking together on the course, so should soon see ducklings. So far its been a cold March so do not have to mow the grass at work and home yet,

I thought it was spring here... last week the temp was 90F  and the pear trees were blooming (and smelling quite like putrid if you ask me)

...but my Easter Sunday's high was 40F, but today has warmed up to 50F.

This has completely screwed with my allergies. So to add to the knees, I have a headache, sore throat, and runny nose.

We've got the sifts and swallows flying around which is a sure sign that Spring is nearly over and summer is almost here!

Yesterday was the last day of the so-called Cold Saints (Eisheiligen) so all the balconies are now decked with geraniums etc. It's a tradition here in Bavaria not to put out the window boxes etc until after 15th May (St Sophia's Day). Actually as this year has been so mild many had their boxes out earlier so it should be a fine show in a few weeks.

The flying geese flew over our flat at 0430 this am making such a din  - must be their mating call

They will however get a bit wet as we have another dark wet and miserable day.

All the house around here now have their flower boxes full of geraniums. May 16th is the day that is said to be safe to put them out. Up to then is is possible to get a really bad frost which will kill them off!

Sitting here on my balcony watching swifts and swallows fly around catching insects - is that a sign of Spring or summer?

Oh my goodness I would hate to live where y'all live if it's still cold. Where I am, it's been very comfortable in the high 80s F. Right now (according to weather.com), it's 76F with only 61% humidity. We're in store for some rain this weekend, but that's expected because we've been below norm.

I've just got back in from Munich and the outside thermoneter is showing +6°C at 11:30 pm so it's getting warmer again  ;D

full moon and clear sky so I've covered the more delicate plants on my balcony as it looks like we could get an air frost tonight!

forecast is for temperatures to rise again to normal by the weekend - it is at least Spring weather again

That's the same crazy story as here. On Sunday I was out cycling with my 5 year old Godchild and her parents in 27°C muggy heat - they all swam in a small lake while I watched. Then less than 24 hours later we have snow here at 800m asl!!!!

My tomato plants have caught a wee bit of air frost last night. But today it is over 20° again weird. What have we done to our climate  :(

On the news today they said that the month of May broke 3 climate records this year: hottest May on record but also the wettest and with the most sunshine hours.

On Thursday we have the Festival of Corpus Christi (in German Fronleichnam - word for word translation being Happy Cadaver Day!) This will be the day that the animals - milk cows, sheep and goats will be driven by the herders on foot up to the highest alpine pastures. And a mass will be said on the mountain tops all over the Catholic areas of the Alps. the herders will spend up to 5 months in the high pastures making cheese from the milk and then descend into the valleys again for winter. for us it is really the beginning of summer.

Is it a plane .........................! No it's a paraglider! I'm going back to taking a run and jump off the mountains  :D.

Actually going back to the bunny hill where we all begin and initially I'm only going to walk up and down to help get the knee used to the hard work. Then I'll begin the learning process all over again. First the baby hill then being towed up from a flat start. In September I will start the altitude flights again but in Slovenia not here at home as the start place is rather steep and rocky. My instructors feel a nice sloping meadow such as we have in Slovenia is the best for the first altitude flights.

I have a "Wing" which looks like a parachute but it carries me into the air and I "hang" underneath it in a harness. In case my wing collapses in some way I do have an emergancy parachute that I can use to get down.

I was sitting out on my porch yesterday and saw my first redbird of the season. He was beautiful!! I also heard that damn woodpecker up in the pine tree above my house, he comes back every year and is determined to take the top off of that tree, but I can not bring myself to hurt him. Also, I saw signs of the first baby squirrels........ ;D

So we have more geesse arriving, but it snowed last night, it's snowing now, the weather guess work is now forecasting 10 days in the next 14, and a senior Climatologist is predicting 6 more weeks of winter ???

Guess we haven't quite got to spring yet

I agree with John its cold and wet in the UK and does not feel like Spring at all might even get snow Easter Weekend in some parts of the UK. I am at my Sisters house in Suffolk and already seen a magnolia tree just about to blossom and forsythia shrubs have already flowered.

It's time for the annual birds to try to build a nest in the dryer vent. The only way we can chase them off is to turn on the dryer.

Its also cold at my Sisters location in East Anglia its starting to sleet at the moment and the wind is breezy and cold does not at all feel like Spring. It looks as if a large area of the UK will have a White Easter as its looks as if it going to snow this Sunday according to the BBC weather forcast. Spring is not here just yet but sure to warm up in April.

I have to agree with Anja - I woke up to about 20 cms of new snow and it did not stop until the middle of the afternoon!

Just cos it's Easter doesn't mean that Mother Nature KNOWS it should be warm and sunny! This Easter is the earliest since 1913 folks! It's winter still for most of us in the northern hemisphere for crying out loud!  ;)

Sunny, clear and cool here right now - a balmy 8°C and not a cloud in the sky but the early mornings are often like that - it's just before 07:00. Forecast has the temperatures going up to 20°C today, so I guess Spring has fought it's way back into contention.

Daylight Saving Time was started at 2:00am for us this morning - now that really is a real sign of Spring. So the whole of Europe jumped an hour forward today! Probably snow again tomorrow  ;D

No messing around with clock changes here, Saskatchewan stays stubbornly on one time all year.

Spring progress, well we missed the worst of the latest winter storms, roads to the south and north of us were closed for 24 hours on Sunday. We did have a small fall last night, but geeses numbers are increasing, and although day time highs are only just over freezing, the sun is strong enough to be melting the snow, so we are walking on frozen ground in the morning, and mud by lunch time.

Nothing has started to grow yet :(

We live in the middle of suburbia...3-sided fenced yard.

We were up getting breakfast the other morning around 8 and lo and behold in our back yard we see a lovely white-tailed doe staring at us! She stayed for almost 2 and a half hours chomping on the cedar hedge before she decided she was threatened by human presence and the yappy Yorkshire terrier next door!

She was spotted a few blocks away several hours later but she had been injured at that point. We don't know what happened to her....

Well I'm burnt to a crisp and really shattered but happy - I went flying today - sadly without success on the bunny hill; I tripped, fell, landed on my butt, side and nose. But my knee does not hurt any more than it did before and to be honest I did not think about it at all except when the nerve fired off every so often. But as that is random and has nothing to do with any false movement, as it shoots out pain regardless of what I'm doing.

In the mountains today it was simply amazing - temps up in the mid 30s (so low 90s for you guys still in old money  ;D) light winds, dry atmosphere. Grass cut for hay, drying in the sun and smelling beautiful as long as you don't get hay fever. All the Spring flowers is full bloom and everyone in a good mood because of the good weather!

I live in a really beautiful part of the world!

I posted moving grins on my last post but they don't seem to have come through or is it just my laptop objecting to the early start on a Sunday?

Off into the mountains again today to fly again. We had a really warm night (25°C in my bedroom despite every door and window being open!) and I was pestered by one or two persistent mozzies but they remained out side the net over my bed and therefore went hungry.

It is now 7:00am and the temperature is already in the mid twenties and expected to top 33°C - so lots of water in my backpack today.

I witnessed a helicopter rescue yesterday and was able to photograph the winching down and up of the varies parties. The injured man is a member of our flying club and was as far as I could later find out not seriously injured.

I got roasted and despite drinking more than 2 litres of water before lunch I got a touch of sunstroke around midday and came home I have spent the last 6 hours in a haze drinking cool water through a straw whilst lying in a darkened cool room. I'm not a heat person that's for sure!

The flying from the practice hill is exhausting as after every 2/3 minute flight we have to lug everything back up the hill on foot. Our flying instructor reckoned it was nearly 40°C (over 100°F in old money) - I'm getting too old and too unfit for this lark - I need to get my nerve back so I can fly from the mountain - there a cable car and a chairlift do all the really hard work and I can have a flight of 2 or 3 hours instead  ::)

I can still see loads of the flying club in the air around the mountain!

According to what I know, she's doing all the right stuff....

Heatstroke is no fun.....be careful, my friend in this heat!!!

We have had 2 weeks of very unsettled weather...threatening rain, beautiful sunshine, hail, lower temperatures, hot humid weather!!! ??? ???

Improvement later this week...

Thanks for the concern guys - actually I don't think it was really sunstroke as I didn't have the headache and shivering etc. I did measure my blood pressure and it was so low it was off the scale. I kept monitoring it and it stayed around the 80:50 mark.

It's still very low this morning (85:53) so I'm going to see my GP today - he put me on some BP medication because another doctor reported that my BP was too high but I think it was an aberration as I normally have quite low BP. Now the tabs are putting it below effective level

If it isn't one thing it's another  ::)

Glad to hear you're feeling better, Sue!

More unsettled weather today!

But the best thing about today is that my OS (who is fabulous) has kicked me to the curb. Unless I have any further issues I don't need to see him again...happiness is........

got signed off sick for the week for something the Germans called "Kreislauf Zusammenbrück" (circulation breakdown) BP is, according to my doc, in negative figures, so I wasn't allowed to drive to see him. Have to measure my BP every hour and record it along with pulse rate etc. The BP tabs are off the menu for today and tomorrow then only half a tab until they are finished. I'm getting dizzy spells all the time as it is so low the blood is not travelling in sufficient quantity to my brain, etc (didn't think I had one really  ;D ;D)

So lots of fluids, lying down and not leaving the house for fear of falling over. I was hoping that today would be a wee bit better but just had to lie down again as everything went fuzzy again. BP 70:53  :(

It's actually beautiful here today...went for a walk this morning and felt as though I could go for awhile if I hadn't been so hungry for breakfast!

thanks for the nice thoughts & positive vibes folks - still incredibly dizzy and feeling lethargic - Germans call it "schlap" Zero energy and could sleep all day I reckon  :( What a waste.

OK where are the McVities then John  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

We had tremendous thunderstorms yesterday late afternoon and most of the evening. I thought clearing the air would make things improve but I'm still just a bad as yesterday really. As soon as I can drive my doc wants me in for a complete check up - blood, ECG etc! The weather is neither one thing nor the other today so I'm not missing anything!

Thanks guys - I'm feeling better already just because of the positive vibes!

This is the last nail in my GP's coffin - he's an old friend from my diving club and was always really good but I did question the Hypertension meds when he prescribed them. I am one of the lucky ones with low BP, body temp and metabolism - he has also treated me for an under functioning thyroid on and off for years! I saw him on the last day before he took off for a month's holiday and I guess his mind just was not on the job  :( I'm going to transfer to one here in my village that I can walk to.

I think the daisies have arrived John - the landlady is picking them out of the lawn  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'll take it easy again tomorrow then I will try to see the local guy and register with him.

Sue, I have a question...is there a doctor shortage in Germany?

We have a real problem here in Ontario with people not being able to get seen because doctors are giving up their practices and no one wanting to fill their places...I don't know what we'll do when our doctor gives up his practice and retires...I really like him...

It's a beautiful day today...maybe some golf tomorrow....

No Sue, we actually have a surplus but because the pay is so bad, many qualify, fight for a job then throw in the towel and leave for pastures new. I believe many German doctors and nurses find work in the UK in the NHS. In order to qualify they have to have a fairly high standard of English, so the UK, USA, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand are magnets for them. Sometimes they leave permanently, sometimes just for the experience and then hope to return and get a permanent position.

We do have a big problem with GPs though and I'm lucky that there is still one here in my village. Reasons being poor pay and a huge bureaucratic machine controlled by our various insurances  :(

BP is back to a normal range now. I'm interested to see how the tablets affect it now. I've had 2 days off and have just taken the first tablet since this thing started. I've got to monitor the BP hourly today and tomorrow and then we'll know if this was all due to the wrong medicines.

Hot weather is back and it is feeling thundery too so conditions are the same as on Sunday when al this started.

Its that time of year again spring is just around the corner and have noticed signs of spring coming already we are getting longer days and shorter nights. Back in December use to get dark at 4pm now gets dark at 5:30pm. In the morning was still dark at 7:45am now gets light at 7:15am.The crocuses and snow drops are starting to flower now.

Spring is on the way, which is a good thing as its been a cold wet winter in the UK.

And we sinking under the weight of the snow, temperatures reached the lofty heights of -5°C in the valleys today. Where I live it didn't really work up above -9°C, even though the sun was shining. More snow forecast for tonight and tomorrow. When I drove to the ski slopes this morning at 10:00am it was reading -13°C, last night it went down to -22°C

Not a whisper of Spring here yet!

Just woke up to find that the world has gone all white again and will continue to say that way for a while.

The first flowers had just pushed through, crocuses, snowdrops and other primula types. So winter is not letting go just yet. Just as well as I am going skiing for the next 10 days or so  ;D

Today is officially the start of Spring, meteorologically speaking as it is the Spring Equinox - so at the Poles they will have exactly 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night. According to our news programme it nearly always snows on this day around here  ::)

Winter not over yet a widespread frost tonight in the UK so dont plant out any seedlings just yet until we are safe from night frost. Its been chilly today with a cold wind feels like February and are back into single figures so not woked on my allotment today.

Saw a goose sitting on a nest being guarded by her mate (or is it the other way around?).

Attempted to cut some of the grass with a push mower, but it's still too wet after days of rain. 1 year post op and my knee definitely did not like mowing, I only got about 15 minutes worth in before having to quit.

Spring came and went on Saturday for us  :( Sunday was cold and wet with continuous snow/sleet.

Over night it dumped on us big time AGAIN! I knew it would but my landlady put the snow shovel away - guess who has to go out and clear her driveway yet again - no prizes just another shovel to help as it is wet and heavy Spring snow!

Forecast is threatening a return for Spring later this week, but probably that will turn out to be summer  :o As they say around here - Schau man mal!  8)

We don't have snow, but that doesn't mean it won't happen eventually. This time of year is soooo unpredictable!

For the last 2 days we've had pelting icy rain and it's cold....I know we need the rain to clean everything out but it does nothing for my frame of mind. :-\

Our long range forecast indicates more of the same.....drip, drip, drip!!

I've been out along the cycle path along the River Inn today - temperatures up in the middle 20s (22 -25°C). Real Spring weather with all the trees budding, wood anenomes, primulas, wood violets, all flowering. The trees are budding well and the greens are all fresh. The wild garlic (Bärlauch) is starting to come into leaf and you could smell it just - give it a week or two and it will be ready to pick for making soups and salad dressings with.

I saw my first ever wild beaver and its "dam" on one of the drainage canals next to the river. This pair had been very busy felling trees in the immediate area of the dam. The local farmers are angry about the damage to their fruit trees and hedges, but the animals are part of a re-stocking programme and are strictly protected. I was amazed at the size of some of the trees felled.

I did about 40km in glorious sunshine on my bike, all on cycle paths no roads at all. Tomorrow I am going to Salzburg for the Easter Mass in the cathedral. They are singing Hayden's Nelson Mass as a part of the service, one of my favourite pieces and one I have sung many times. Afterwards my landlady and I are going to have lunch in a Gasthof in the countryside. Should be another glorious day with temperatures up in the mid 20s°C
