Title: LOOKING FOR KNEE BRACE
Post by: big al on October 02, 2005, 02:09:40 AM
My son is four years old and his right knee is slanting inward like it's knocked, is there a brace that can straighten his leg as he gets older without surgery? Because the two specialists I took him to said he'll most likely grow out of it but surgery might be required. Aside from that he runs fast and plays sports and is very active, only when he stands still it's somewhat noticeable. Any answers will be greatly appreciated. Thank you , Big Al

Hey,

My right knee slanted inward too... but unfortunately it never straightened and I had to have surgery. Ask the specialists if anything can be done to prevent the slanting? I wore a brace after surgery called Donjoy I ROM, but I don't think that would be ideal for a four year old (its rather big and slightly heavy)...

Good Luck with your search! Sorry I could'nt be of any greater help  :-\.

Hi Big Al,

It may be worth asking a Sports Physiotherapist about what kind of knee braces are available for your son. You could also insist on being referred to an OS who specialises in childrens' knees.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Keep u sposted on how you get on.

regards,

Laura
