Title: Knee Problem
Post by: TGK on February 18, 2005, 12:37:13 AM
Jan 2004 I had my right femur broken.  The doctor inserted a rod through my knee and used two screws in my upper knee to hold the rod in place.  Several months later the screws were removed to try to decrease some of the pain in my knee.  It took my almost 6 months to get my leg to bend again.  It has been a year and I am still having severe pain in my knee with a lot of loud grinding and popping.  I still cannot kneel, run, or climb many stairs especially without a handrail.  My doctor has started giving me injections in my knee every 3 months to give me some relief.  I am 46 years old and my doctor says that it looks like I am going to need a knee replacement but that he wants to try to hold off as long as possible since he says knee replacements are generally good for only about 20 years.
