I am not sure what exactly you are asking. BUT think you might be refering to the plastic spacer put in with a total knee replacement that is cemented in place.  THE upper and lower components (tibia and femoral) are cemented in place and then the spacer is in the middle of the knee. if you are asking about an infected prosthesis you could be asking about an antibiotic spacer Teresa
