Title: Knee Rplcmnt-Gortex ACL Removal -?'s
Post by: wordgasm on November 05, 2004, 09:15:59 PM
Howdy All

Well Oct 14th I had my 10th right knee surgrey. Total knee, remove Gortex ACL and remove hardware.

First one was in 78.

If it can be torn or broken in I knee Ive had it.

Marc Friedman in your doctors list did surguries 5-9

I was part of the FDA study for the Gortex ACL thru Marc Friedman.

First off I went with the surgeon my HMO provided Good/Bad, will see.

So the questions:

Since the knee replacement I feel quite a bit of movement in the joint - Good or Bad?

The Surgeon removed the Gortex ligament and hardware.
Pre Op appointments he didnt seems too concerned about the gortex acl or straightening out my osteotomies.

But like I said a HMO. so you take what you can get.
He said It took 2 hours of cutting tissue to get the gortex out. Good or Bad? Joint replacement, hardware and gortex removal, total surguriy time 5 hrs. Good or Bad.

Dont even know what I'm looking for here, just been doing the knee thing my entire adult life (26 years) and looking for some input.

Has anyone else had a gortex acl removed?

Thanks For ALL!

If you have a TKR you don't need an ACL because the tKR can only bend and extend  within a certain range and it can't dislocate.
