This is a video production based on an interview with Dr Lars Blønd, who is a knee surgeon from Copenhagen in Denmark.

We discuss subluxation and dislocation of the patella, and in particular the anatomical abnormality called 'trochlear dysplasia' which Dr Blønd feels is poorly appreciated by clinicians. He feels that patients who have dislocation of the kneecap, or recurrent subluxation should be investigated to exclude trochlear dysplasia. He also feels that it may be relevant in patients with severe anterior knee pain who are not responding to patellar braces and physiotherapy.

Dr Blønd is a pioneer of the procedure of 'arthroscopic trochleoplasty' which corrects the trochlear dysplasia via keyhole surgery.
