Selected as "One of the Best Doctors in America", Robert F. LaPrade, MD, PhD. is a complex orthopaedic (orthopedic) knee surgeon at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, CO. He also serves as Chief Medical Officer, Deputy Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship Program and Director of the International Research Scholar Program at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute.
Often referred to as a "doctor's doctor" he has special skills and expertise in treating intricate knee injuries and previously failed surgeries. His research focuses on posterolateral knee injuries, PCL tears, revision ACL reconstructions, meniscal transplants, MCL injuries, knee osteotomies, fresh osteoarticular allografts, and other difficult and compound injuries.
His passion for excellence in the field of orthopaedics has lead to ongoing, dynamic research into the study of knee injuries, which has lead to improved diagnostic tests, surgical techniques and patient outcomes. In 2010, Dr. LaPrade was recruited and appointed to be the Director of Biomechanics Research for the Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, CO.
He continues to identify the anatomy and biomechanics of specific problems associated with the knee and has developed anatomic reconstructions for these problems based upon his research.
