Osteoarthritis is the form of arthritis which is the most common in the knee.

Narrowing of the joint line gap on the medial side in both knees, probably from removal of the meniscus.

Narrowing of the joint line gap may precede the development of osteoarthritis on that side.
Classical signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis
Classical symptoms include pain at rest, reduced exercise tolerance, joint swelling.
Classical imaging signs include joint line narrowing, bone spurs, bone cysts, areas of increased bone denisty (sclerosis).
Usually knee osteoarthritis begins in one part of the knee (what we call a 'compartment'), and only later does it progress to involve the other compartments. This gives the patient the option to try to arrest progression by suitable intervention.
