Post-op help for meniscus & plica surgery!!!!! - - Posted by jumper1 (jumper1), 4 January 2005

Hi! It's been 15 days since I had sugery to remove part of my medial meniscus and also had plica removed from my knee. The doctor didn't know about the plica before surgery and said that I could be walking the evening after the surgery but I was not able to put any weight on my leg for about 6 days after surgery. I was given no instructions on exercises to do. I find my patella ligament to be very weak and my quads still barely will contract. Also, I am still not able to walk right. My knee gives out easily if I try to walk at normal stride and I also find it will snap into hyperextension, but attribute that to hyperextension of the PCL when it was injured, is that right?? There is still a lot of swelling above my knee, but not much around the knee, and still have some pain while sleeping. If anyone has ANY information on this it would be greatly appreciated. Is all this normalHuh?
