The patello-femoral joint :

3 months post TTT op - - Posted by sonofthedesert (sonofthedesert), 6 January 2005

I am a Canadian living in Dubai. After struggling with patello-femoral problems I finally found a Dr. that seemed to know what the problem was. I was diagnosed with lateral patella-tilt, patella-baja (low-riding patella) and poor tracking in the right knee and slight lateral patella-tilt and baja in the other. It seemed that I was able to manage the pain somewhat during the dry season but the combo of intense heat, humidity (90-100%) and air-conditioned living in the summer made the pain unbearable and I eventually went ahead with the TTT. 3 months post-op now and I am able to go for 3-4 mile walks without pain and the constant burning, ache seems to have cleared up. I had the patella tendon raised by about 1.5mm and moved medially by about 8mm. I think my patella still sits towards the outside of the knee a little and it sometimes clicks and pops a few times to get itself in the groove when I am sitting with my knees bent and do leg-raises. I also still have sharp pain when descending stairs or doing the wall slide exercises (this is the one where you slide your back down the wall, keeping your knees bent and hold the squatting position for a few seconds). Just wondering what I might expect during the next few months? Is this type of pain normal for others who have had this operation and will it gradually go away or should I assume that it didn't work so well? Perhaps I am not being patient with it but it is difficult to get answers from my Dr. as his main practice is in Geneva and he only comes into town every 4 months or so.

HI!

You might want to check out the Post-op Diaries.  Lots of TTT stories there!

I'm joining the TTT Club the end of January, and have found the information on these boards extremely helping in preparing myself for what lies ahead!

Best wishes to you!
