Bone bruising with ITBS - - Posted by cat (cat), 1 May 2003

Does anyone know if ITBS can cause it?

Theoretically, You could have like an avulsion fracture at either the insertion (Gerdy's tubercule in the tibia) or at the origin (Anterior Superior Iliac Spine of the hip).  This could be caused from repetitive snapping of the band at either end.  If you have rubing at the insertion point, I suppose this could bruise the femoral condyle.

I have no idea what bone brusing is, but i have had mine snap a couple of times and I noticed after a period of exercise that i got red bruises down my leg where the IT band is. I told my PT and they didn't seem to think much of it so.
