KNEE ARTHRITIS - Bone marrow stimulation :

Screws???? - - Posted by pomo2000 (pomo2000), 27 October 2004

Hello, I have Osteochondritis dissecans and the doc put in two long thin titanium screws to fix a bad piece of cart. in place (so it doesn't fall out).

Does anyone know if these screws are okay to leave in a long time?

Won't the bone grow and shift over time?

Also, if the cartilage wears down over the years, won't part of the screw end up sticking out and danage the tibia side?

Are screws normally left in permanently or removed in some monthsHuh

Any advice from people who've experienced this would be a big help.
