Cruciate ligaments :

10 months post op/ knee 'crunching'?! - - Posted by JOSEY_WALES (JOSEY_WALES), 3 January 2005

Hi,

Havent been on here for a while. Embarassed

Things have been improving steadily.  Knee feels very strong and mobility is 98% (cant quite fully straighten).
All in all, pretty good.

I started back playing football but content for now between the sticks !!

I have noticed in the last month a 'wet 'fine' crunch' sound made when I stand up from crouch position has got louder ?!

I first noticed it during the summer but it caused no pain or discomfort just slight concern.

I saw my surgeon 6 weeks ago and he said not to worry about it.  Xrays done at the time showed all ok, no migration of the screws etc.

Anyone outhere had similar experiences?

Sorry about the description of the noise its the best one I can think of  Huh or maybe like opening a bag of crisps in the next room   Huh

I think reassurance is all i need

Best wishes to all members

I'm around 9 months myself and have the same noise if when I stand up from crouched or if I lay on my back and extend from fully bent to straightened.  I asked my doc about it and he blew it off as well.  I did talk to a golfing buddy a couple months ago and he had an ACL recon. like 8 years ago and he says his still does that, so I guess it's something we might as well get used to.

I posted this in another thread, I have the same problem at almost 7 months post-op except that I have a definite 'klunk' in there at about 15 degrees and been experiencing swelling and a bit of pain for a while, which have been slowing my rehab quite a bit. I'm actually scheduled for a debridment scope in 2 weeks to hopefully fix the problem.

are these all autografts?

Mine is.

I wonder if it's due to scar tissue, perhaps causing a little swelling? just a guess.

I'll let you know in 2 weeks..

Thanks for the replies people !!

(Mine is a hamstring autograft)

Guess i was hoping my knee would be returned to its original (undamaged) condition

I have no pain to clunking or clicking ets so its probably a small thing to live with.

Thanks again

good luck all

Does your klunking/grinding cause you any inflammation/swelling at all? Just curious.

Hi Gab,

I dont get any pain, swelling, inflamation or anything.

Apart from the 'crunching' noise I am very happy with the outcome although still a bit apprehensive to start full contact sports.

I will be starting swimming this year keep up the strength.

Ade
