Should I delay my trip? - - Posted by Amanda (Amanda), 15 December 2004

Hi peoples
My partner and I have been planning a world trip (SE Asia, Egypt, Europe & America) for years now and we have booked our flights and were planning on going at the beginning of March 05.  I initially thought four months would be enough time to recover, but I am now four weeks post op (and just starting physio due to having had a blood clot), and am contemplating whether I should delay our flights by 4 weeks to give me some extra time.  I will need to be able to be on my feet all day sight seeing and walking about.  I took quite a while to recover from my last scope, so I am thinking it might be safer.  What do you think?

March is a long way off.  Plenty of time to recover, but that is simply my opinion (and I haven't had my surgery yet).  Your OS or PT can probably give you a good answer to this.  My OS is convinced that I'll be back playing soccer 2-3 weeks after surgery (I certainly hope he is right), so everyone is unique.

Could I get some advice from some of you that have had partial meniscetomies?  Particularly those that have had a fair bit removed.  AndrewC and others?  I think it took me about 6 months for my knee to get as good as it was going to get last time.
