i am new to this site, i have posted 1 message before this one...well since my last one i have been back to hospital today,and i am still no better..at first they said i had a torn medial menicus, with an 8mm adjacent cyst.needed to have key-hole surgery, but they couldnt find it, they tell me its wear'n'tear on my left knee.i am 32 years with 2 small children. the pain is just as before, all they said today was for me to have phesio(cant spell)..and to go back in 6 months..it is really getting me down now as its starting to interfere with my everyday life..can a MRI-scan be wrong and i havnt got a torn medial menicus, and it is just what they say...i dont no what to belive all i know is that i am real fed up of all this pain i am still in....can anyone help with any advice as what to do, thanks so much

Dove, as perfect as MRIs are said to be, they NEVER are 100% accurate! So it can be possible the MRI shows a tear and the scope doesn't, or the other way round! Arthroscopy is the only way to be 99%
sure what's wrong.

I have had knee pain for five years and was told to live with it by my surgeon, I went for a second opinion last year, who then refered me to a knee specialist, and it now turns out that I need a total knee replacement at 31 as I have no cartilage left, I wish I had had a second opinion 3 years ago now. If you are not happy with your orthopaedic surgeon ask your gP for a second opinion.
