Bone breaks around the knee :

Recovered Fractured Patella Survey! - - Posted by HHB (MHB), 22 September 2004

Dear folks,

At 6 mos out from fractured patella ORIF (fixture hardware still in place), a bit of swelling/heat/inflammation remains in the injured knee, but no pain. Am curious
about other outcomes. So ....

Thanks very much ahead of time to those who will provide any of the above information. I realize
that every story has to be different, but just wondered how the outcome plays for others in the
fx-patella-ORIF recovery boat.

Take care -- MHB

I am a year post injury and initial surgery but you will notice the answers are very similar.

1. walking is ok, kneeling is still very difficult
2.  1-4 depending on activity
3.  -5% on injured leg
4.  yes - activity level dictates
5.  always slightly larger
6.  no

I also suffered an injury to my ankle in the fall. Since it continues to cause problems, some of my knee pain is the result of the ankle.
