Joint hypermobility disorders :

Thank you for opening my eyes! - - Posted by Louise (Louise), 19 August 2003

Was just browsing the boards with regards to meniscal problems when I came across the hypermobility posts.  I was extremely interested as my "flexibility" has always been quite a party piece so thought I'd have a quick read.

I've always been extremely flexible in just about every joint and have terrified a number of physios with the degree of my hypermobility, but I never realised it was a condition as such.  Having read some of the symptoms other members have been describing everything seems to be falling into place.

I score highly on all the point scales mentioned, I have "abnormally" long limbs and suffer from a lot of the other symptoms most of you describe.  Things such as back pain which can be relieved by clicking, excess skin, migrane, various food allergies, constant ear, throat and sinus problems, myopia, I bruise and scar very easily, I often faint for no apparent reason, have suffered from many torn ligaments, increased sweating, foot drop, asthma, poor immune system and even the ability to read upsidedown!

I've been to see my GP with a majority of these problems and he's never found a cause behind each problem individually.  HMS would appear to explain an awful lot of my problems and it's something I will now look into further.  It would be great to be able to finally put a name to my problems.

Thanks all!  Take care!

Louise

Hi Louise

Welcome to the board Smiley  I had the same problem as you with having many seemingly unrelated problems and now everything is starting to fall in to place  There are many good websites listed in other posts in this section and I strongly urge you to check them out Smiley

This old Forum was so valuable that we have kept it as an archive. It is just for reference. If you want to ask questions or offer advice, there is also a current Bulletin Board which you can access from our home page.
