Allograph Patella Tendon - - Posted by Harper1977 (Harper1977), 17 March 2003

I am suffering from a probable re-ruptured patella tendon.  I have repaired it about 4 times.  My doctor said that I will probably have to have an allograph tendon.  Does anyone have any experience with these?  Any helpful advice?

I had this done last July but with limited success
Please check out my journAL ITS SOMEWHERE AROUND.
It was a hard slogg and I may have to have a slight revision as part of that has ruptured and the results I am told are not always good I guess It depends on how desperate you are and how bad your quality of life and what percentge of success the surgeon offers.
Is it from you or a cadavar?
If I can be of help please ask

Well, at this point we are going towards a cadaver tendon.  My surgeon thinks that a cadaver tendon would have a better chance of giving me full range of motion and full weigh-bearing.  I would love to read your journal if you know where it is.  I have a nosy question...how much did your allograph tendon repair cost?  I will be paying for my operation out of pocket.

Thanks

Is it normal for a OS to tell you that he wants your tendon to scar down, instead of a surgical repair?   I thought that scar tissue was a bad thing?  My OS said that I need to wait 30 post injury to see if the rupture was a partial one, and if my knee will heal itself.  Does this sound normal?
