The patello-femoral joint :
Any Advice? - - Posted by april182000 (april182000), 15 September 2003
Hello,
I'm hoping that someone on this board may be able to help me out. I have had problems with my knees dislocating since I was 16. I am a former competitive figure skater, and alot of damage was done before I turned 14. Here is my story:
It's been almost 3 months since my scope. The good news is that the
costant crunching of bones is gone; however, the pain is still
there. I used to be able to go up and down stair without a problem,
but now it really bothers my knee. It almost feels like there is
alot of pressure above the kneecap and right in the joint. My doctor
tried me on Vioxx, Bextra, and others, and nothing helped. Now I'm
taking Percocet 4 times a day which does seem to help a bit. I'm 28
years old, and 12 years of competitive figure skating didn't help.
Here is a brief history:
1991(age 16) first major surgery called a Houser's I think left knee
1993(age 1
screws removed
1995(age 20) scope of left knee
1998(age 23)second major surgery called Houser's I think right knee
2001(age 26) screw removed
2003(age 2
scope left knee
I still have pain, as well as, problems with my knee staying aligned. One big issue is that my knee is locking or giving out while I'm either stading still or walking, which is very painful. Anyone have any ideas? or suggestions?
Thanks
Martha

Hi
I think you mean 'Hauser's'.
I am moving this to the patellofemoral section, where I trust you will get the help you need.
Read up about synovial plicae (medial plica, suprapatellar plica, complete septum) - and see if it might be relevant in your case.
