Overuse problems of the knee :

Post-op Tendonosis surgery - - Posted by nikbruno (nikbruno), 12 August 2004

Was diagnosed with patellar tendonosis about 8 months ago after being sympomatic for 2 years.  Tried everything that could be done conservatively, PT, rest, needling etc. nothing worked.  On August 2 I had surgery by Dr. Fulkerson and he said he removed about 1/3 of the tendon because it was very crummy looking.  He wanted me to get my leg moving as soon as possible and didnt even give me crutches after saying that I needed to get around on my own ASAP.  He also said 4 months till I can run or lift on the leg.  Friends of mine who have had it were in immobilizers for extensive periods of time and on crutches for a month.    So now 9 days out Im walking around, going up stairs good and have slightly more than 90 deg bend.  Theres slight swelling and some soreness around it.  But overall I feel good about it.  Anyone else have the surgery and get results from it or can anyone else offer me advice about the recovery?  Thanks

Four years ago I had the surgery after spending 2 years playing Football (Soccer in US) with a support on and being in pain for days after. I must say after about 9 months of intense physio and doing EXCATLY as I was told, I resumed playing as if I'd never had anything wrong.....So stick in there and be patient!

Just found out though that I have torn my ACL in the other Knee Doh!  Football is not good for you
